leavethesky: (sarah connor shotgun)
A quick shout out to The Sarah Connor Chronicles Virtual Season , which is just exceptionally well-written, plotted, etc. If you love Sarah Connor (and who doesn't?), the terminator who loves her and Judgment Day/saving mankind from Skynet/ourselves, make sure you check it out. It's still a WIP, but so damn compelling I just had to post. I love what they've done with the story and the future. This is what fanfic is for!

Also [profile] jengrrrl writes possibly the best rec I have ever seen for this fic (Saga of Bläken the Bloodthirsty by [profile] fivewhatfive. Have not read it yet, but it's at the top of my list and how can you resist a rec like this:

IF YOU WANT TO READ SOMETHING SUPER, REALLY WELL-WRITTEN, THAT COMBINES THE ICELANDIC SAGAS WITH, LIKE, TWO HOTS GIRLS FALLING IN LOVE? YOU NEED TO TOTALLY READ [profile] fivewhatfive'S SAGA OF BLäKeN THE BLOODTHIRSTY. BASICALLY, LOOK AT THIS MOTHERFUCKING STORY. THERE ARE SWORDS, THERE IS POWERFUL MAGIC, THERE ARE GODS AND WOLVES AND PELTS AND HORSES AND FUCKING BILBERRIES. BASICALLY, IT'S JUST AWESOME. BECAUSE WHO DOESN'T LIKE SWORDS AND VIKINGS AND GIRL-ON-GIRL WITH ~FEELINGS? I MEAN, IF YOU DON'T, WHAT KIND OF MONSTER ARE YOU?

PS THIS IS A REALLY GOOD STORY. GO AND READ IT AND THEN TELL MARY HOW FANTASTIC SHE IS SO THAT SHE WILL WRITE MORE FOR ME.

And [profile] harper_m's A Slight Obfuscation of the Truth, Murder in Suburbia, Ash/Scribbs, Mature is HILARIOUS, HOT, and just all-around awesome. Harper has a way with complicated women. She lets them be complicated, and OCD, and brilliant without losing their sexiness, which is tough. Especially when you think about how much emphasis our culture puts on the idea of 'low maintenance' as necessary to hotness. Obviously, this does not match up with my worldview or, thankfully, harper's.
I know, it's crazy. I'm actually writing a rec!

First up, is [livejournal.com profile] zennie's Sarah Connor Chronicles Series (this links to [livejournal.com profile] passion_perfect and a list of the links to all 8 parts of the series) which is obviously Sarah/Cameron, Mature. I'm a sucker for fiction around all of these 'cybernetic organisms' that deals with the real issues of what emotion, desire, and self mean to a mind that is programmed. [livejournal.com profile] zennie does an incredible job on both levels -- the writing and the philosophical as well (even including a supersexygeeky author's note). [fic SPOILERish comments coming up ] Readers be warned though, this fic is true to the tone of the fandom, which is set in an pre-apocalyptic AU. The allusions to Romeo & Juliet early on should clue everyone in to the type of ending that's in store. It's still wonderful, and [livejournal.com profile] zennie manages to keep it within character and the epilogue is sooooo bittersweet. This is not one of those endings that make you go wtf, why did I bother? It's the right ending.

This does make me ask where all the 6/6 BSG fic is? Come on cyborg femslashers.

So to lighten things up again, here's a fluff, romantic fic from Women's Murder Club fandom: To Hell and Back by [livejournal.com profile] inspectorboxer, which is Lindsay/Cindy, PG-13. It's hurt/comfort and did I mention the sweetness? The only problem with this fic is that even though it's on [livejournal.com profile] passion_perfect, there are 4 parts and there's no single link that links to all of them. [livejournal.com profile] ralst will probably archive this one and solve the problem eventually, 'til then, I'd recommend going to [livejournal.com profile] inspectorboxer's LJ and tracking them down.
