Thanks to numerous issues with LJ, I'm trying to move to Dreamwidth although I'm having serious problems with my reader page. If you're interested, [personal profile] coffeeandink has a great tutorial, How to Move from LJ to Dreamwidth in Six Easy Steps.

Now on to the reason you're all still reading this journal -- the recs:

It's Just The Age Where Nothing Fits by [personal profile] 08adabry is RPF, Bleighton, AU, Rebel Without A Cause, NC-17. Did you get that? It's an AU in which Blake Lively is James Dean's character, but, like, for real? Whatever. It's brilliant. You had me at cross-dressing, dapperQ Blake. The story does diverge from Rebel, but nothing is lost and everything is gained in this femslash universe. I LOVED this!! Then again, it hits some of my major kinks (hello identity, gender-as-performance, etc.) and it's beautifully written, so there?

Also bleighton and also AU (apparently [personal profile] pirateygoodness is implicated in both these fics is Every Mile is Two in Winter by [profile] thrace_ is R and takes place in the universe of Blaaken the Bloodthirsty with a crossover with Legend of the Seeker (who are not real people but the characters Cara and Kahlen). Got that? Blake is Blaaken, Leighton is her...wench. Cara and Kahlan come seeking an alliance and all hell breaks loose. I know I've made it sound complicated, but it really isn't. It's just great fic!

Into RPF? I have quite a few on my delicious account including a TON of incredibly hot [personal profile] trancer21 RPF glee fics. Srsly. You will need a cold shower. Or three.

There are more, but I'm lazy. Later. After the end of the semester nightmare is over.
Until It Disappeared by [livejournal.com profile] thrace_ is Emily/JJ, Criminal Minds, PG-13. What I love about this fic (besides the fact that I got to read it before all y'all) is that it is so JJ-centric. We really get a chance to get inside JJ's thoughts and see her life. There's also the fact that it's an AU (Emily's left for L.A.) so we get to see a more fully fleshed, more confident Emily. Also, some hurt/comfort, which is always good.
Also in the awesome Emily/JJ AU is On a Burning Beach by [livejournal.com profile] calleigh_j. Loads of delicious Emily backstory (she's CIA in this AU) and a great story. Awesomeness.

The Hardest Part About Saying Hello is Goobye by [livejournal.com profile] kben is Glee, Rachel/Quinn in a Time Traveler's Wife AU, PG-13. Yes, it's a bit disorienting at first (it should be!), but this is a truly wonderful story. Love the way Quinn and Rachel meet and remeet and unmeet... and fall in love somewhere in all of that non-linear time traveling confusion. Love. This.
Also, if this you need some sex in your glee, there's [livejournal.com profile] trancer21's volcanicallyhot Perfect Pitch, Rachel/Quinn, pwp:
“You are NOT practicing scales while going down on me!”

Also file under OMGsofuckinghot! is Not Unlike A Woman by [livejournal.com profile] scurvyknavery, Cara/Kahlan, MATURE, Legend of the Seeker. Cara finds It in a marketplace and she and Kahlan renegotiate the terms of their 'relationship' while the boys are away.

the (totally appropriate!) Gay for Kahlan! icon courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] deej.

She's the Wave by [livejournal.com profile] austen is leighton/blakelively, rpf, PIRATES!! I don't know why this pair of actresses inspires such pirateygoodness (yes, she's the author of another amazing pirate fic, the mother of them all -- see what I did there internets?), but thank dog it does!

I really have become the worst kind of LJ lurker. Sorry about that all you incredible femslashers. I do, however, keep a list of those fics I've actually read and mean torec over on delicious. Please to check it out. It includes some yuletide fic (Rachel Maddow fic! people!, babysitters' club!, etc.!), some not so recent fic, and other stuff.

One of the greatest things about Yuletide (yanno, besides the greatness of the heroic mods) is that we/I get to read some more obscure pairings (in other words, non DWP or GL). Yuletide=love.
Okay, yes, I hate this show. But I'm a total ho for good fanfic and this is not just good fanfic, it's extraordinary!

Women!Gossip! Vampires! by [livejournal.com profile] pirateygoodness is Blake Lively/Leigton Meester, rpf crossover w/True Blood, NC-17. This fic is incredibly well-written, beautifully paced and so very, very sexy and VAMPIRES! Blake and Leigton on set and behind the scenes as Blake processes that her co-star is not just a thousand different kinds of hot, but, well ...different. AWESOMENESS! And I'm not just saying that because I'm drunk! This is a vampire fic so be warned: there will be blood. But only in the sexiest, GOGA way.
Guinevere of the High Seas by [livejournal.com profile] hyel is Gwen/Morgana, PG-13 and it is PIRATES!! We all know how I love the pirates. I also love it that this is a colonial re-setting of the Pendragon myth. Works so very well here. Of course I want MORE. But who wouldn't want more of Guinevere, the pirate queen? The escaped slave who, with the help of her former mistress, takes over the pirate ship that once held them captive (and Morgana for ransom)? Srsly? *thud*

Amateur Deconstruction by [livejournal.com profile] harper_m is Criminal Minds, Emily/JJ, MATURE. Astonishingly good fic that's a wonderful character study of Emily and JJ. Everything about this fic rings true, especially Emily's reactions and this is really an Emily fic even though it's JJ's pov, which is astonishingly difficult to pull off, but it's done perfectly here. A BAU profiler, particularly a female one, would have serious control and intimacy issues. Nothing about romancing and/or seducing Emily would be easy. Amazing writing. I love all of harper's writing, but I seem to be especially fond of the one's she's...not so sure about? ;)

The Truth Will Get You Laid by [livejournal.com profile] thrace_ is SGA, Cadman/Keller, PG-13. Hilarious story about the accident-prone Cadman and 'truthiness'. Great stuff! you had me at the title. *G*

How to Survive a Broken Heart by [livejournal.com profile] faithtastic is Buffy/Tara, BTVS, Mature. Really fantastic piece that uses the PWP setup for a really fascinating character study.

written for [livejournal.com profile] thelittlebang:
My Heart is Plotting Treason by [livejournal.com profile] pirateygoodness is Gossip Girl, RPF, AU, Mature. It's 1964. Blake is one of the CIA's finest, even if she does tend to do most of her spying dressed as a gentleman. Leighton is a Russian girl working for the greasiest, most corrupt Bolshevik gangsters in London. Oldest story in the world. Srsly? It's as good as it sounds. And then some. And pirateygoodness can WRITE.

RPF, pr0n!

I know. It's been too long since there's actually been a rec on this LJ. And even longer since I've posted strictly for pr0n purposes. Thankfully, [livejournal.com profile] trancer21 and [livejournal.com profile] fembuck finally gave in to Megan Fox's cries for help:

Wishes by [livejournal.com profile] trancer21 is RPF, Olivia Wilde/Megan Fox, VERY MATURE! I would give you a rundown of the story, but...do you really care? Hot sex and teh two stars who has it.

Of All the Gin Joints in All the World by [livejournal.com profile] fembuck is, again, the Make a GOGA Wish Foundation's answer to Megan Fox's not-so-secret dream to strangle an ox or something. Again, Very Mature so don't go there if you're too... immature.
Okay, so I'm only just noticing that everyone seems to be running over to dreamwidth, which also means away from LJ. Is there something I should know? Did the Republicans decide to take over LJ when they lost the executive and legislative branches? did the powers that be finally fire everyone and there's no one behind the curtain at LJ?

Or is this like the swine flu and everyone's stocking up on canned food and guns and water and guns for what amounts to...the flu? Somebody please 'splain.

Anyway, a rec!
Hotter than the hottest day of summer after 100 years of global warming (w/lines like that, I should for fox news!) The Michelle Rodriguez School of Pimpin’ and General Bad-Assery by [livejournal.com profile] trancer21 is cracktastic rpf, Michelle Rodriguez/Jordanna Brewster end of the world with zombies and incredibly hot sex. Srsly. If you're looking for sextastic GOGA end of the semester blowout (so to speak), girls with guns and going down, look no farther than this. GUH!! They don't make ratings high enough for this. XXXX?

I love it that I already had a Michelle Rodriguez tag. heh.
Apparently, [livejournal.com profile] pirateygoodness and [livejournal.com profile] tellitslant were inspired by the femslashtic pics of Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff to write an incredibly hot fic: We're Here for a Good Time (Not a Long Time) is NC-17. What do you do when a thunderstorm hits during you motorcycle tour? Hit a liquor store for some beer, check in to a skanky motel and have incredibly hot sex, of course!

Leave the love for the sexinators/writers!

Xena rec of the day (Okay, so it's really RPF, but it's Zoe Bell!):
I think [livejournal.com profile] thrace_ tipped me off about this fic? double your pleasure by [livejournal.com profile] projectjulie isn't exactly Xena fic. In fact it's hot RPFS featuring Zoe Bell and all the women she's loved, I mean doubled, before. Hot and lovely, told in short, sweet vignettes. Onscreen, they add up to one. ohhhhhhh yes!

Plus, all the Xena recs from our kind viewers:

A few recs between papers and exams:

First, Xena:
The Pappas Journals I and II by Elaine Sutherland is Mature, Mel/Janice. Someone recommended this to me long ago ([livejournal.com profile] theholyinnocent? [livejournal.com profile] adastranot?) and it was well-worth the wait. This story is exquisite and powerful. This is a darker Mel/Janice with hints of sunlight. Told from Mel's POV, it takes these two from war-torn, besieged Athens into the Hell of Nazi Germany. I'll admit, I cried my eyes out over this one. Beautiful and haunting, incredibly well-written, with subtle, deft touches of the Bard's ancient Greek in translation. And what she does with the scrolls is...inspired. I'm totally floored. All hail Elaine Sutherland!

Then on to SVU and LAO:
24 Frames by [livejournal.com profile] theholyinnocent is Mature, Alex/Olivia. [livejournal.com profile] wizened_cynic reminded me that this fic was absolutely exquisite and needed to be recced. It's Alex and Olivia told in quick, breathless vignettes. Beautiful.

Four Things Serena Southerlyn Never Said by [livejournal.com profile] fewthistle is Serena/of, Mature. Fewthistle's back! And working her usual miracles with underdeveloped characters. Her Serena has soul and depth and the writing as always is hauntingly lovely.

Lamplighter by [livejournal.com profile] theholyinnocent is Harper Lee (from Capote played by the glorious Katherine Keener)/OF and it's Mature. [livejournal.com profile] theholyinnocent didn't know whether to characterize this as RPF or fanfic and I'm not sure either, but for anyone with a Harper Lee fixation or a Keener one, this is the fic for you. It has [livejournal.com profile] theholyinnocent's usual gorgeous prose and a few scenes from the life of a master storyteller who only wrote one novel. Also, I'm a sucker for Southerners transplanted to the big bad City...because I was one once.

I know, I promised fluff and I delivered the heavy. Again. Sorry. You'd think with all of this work I'd want something light, but, no. *sigh* Fluff soon.

Yes, finally, the promised BSG mega-rec. It's not comprehensive by any stretch of the imagination, but I've been lazy for the past few weeks so I'm trying to make up for it. Check [livejournal.com profile] getyourtoaster and the BSG femslash masterlist for more BSG-flavored femslashiness. Also, I'll be posting more recs as we go, so don't worry, there will be more BSG.

[livejournal.com profile] projectjulie and [livejournal.com profile] aeonian team up to create The Word which combines two brilliant fics (The Book of Archers, Starbuck/Roslin, NC-17 and The Book of Ambition, Roslin/Cain, NC-17). And these two fics are only the beginning of a longer 'text' apparently, which is the best news I've had in a long time. Both of these fics are breathtakingly beautiful and sexy. I've already gushed about The Book of Ambition and I'll just say that The Book of Archer is its perfect match. Both are stunning in their characterization of all the women involved with evocative imagery and beautiful language. [livejournal.com profile] projectjulie's use of The Hymn to Artemis hits every one of my kinks, especially since it brings teh sex back into religion. BSG's handling of religion has been awfully judeo-christian (or puritanical) so far and it's so nice to have someone push those boundaries.

teach me tonight by [livejournal.com profile] fox1013 is Roslin/Maya, R. Not that I mind some good old-fashioned Roslin/AnyF PWP, but it's lovely to read a fic with such a slow build. But I'm a sucker for romance and fox delivers, like whoa. Plus, fox's domestic Roslin feels like she's one second from blowing people out an airlock, which is always teh hot.

I Wanna Take You to a Gay Bar by [livejournal.com profile] tellitslant is actually BSG RPF Michelle Forbes/Katee Sackhoff, R. This is a deliciously lovely and funny fic. Katee needs help pushing her character to the next level and Michelle knows exactly what she needs. [livejournal.com profile] tellitslant does a wonderful and realistic job of portraying these two actresses allowing them to be the actresses with obvious hints of the characters they play visible in their personalities. And it gives a wonderful backstory for all of that LUST that was evident every time these two women shared the screen.

Gifts are Good by [livejournal.com profile] trancer21, Starbuck/Cally, PG is wonderfully sweet (I can't believe I'm saying that about a trancer fic) with a kick, just like Cally. I think that's what I love most about this fic. trancer gives Cally her moment. Cally is fierce and strong while still maintaining that touching vulnerability. and Starbuck is the perfect contrast/match for her. Plus, Cally finally gets some! How great is that?

Right Kind of Wrong by Harper, Starbuck/Cain, NC-17 explores the twisted relationship between these two incredibly strong, incredibly damaged women.

more BSG recs coming soon...
