Did anyone else see The Closer tonight? Unfuckingbelievably good! Just when all of my fav female-centric dramas are circling the drain (In Plain Sight has managed to castrate once-kickass!Mary in just two eps, Saving Grace is just too Xtian for me), The Closer frickin' Delivers. No, there's no femslash, but DAMN!

As for the rest of my femslash universe...I've been very, very sick involving hospital time, etc. I even missed IDF, which...is just so very, very wrong. I'd rather miss Xmas and New Year's and I'll throw in that other holiday, Easter, or maybe Groundhog Day. I do know that it produced some knockout fic which I'll get around to reading and rec'ing at some point.

I have a few more recs from [livejournal.com profile] femslash08, but really, I've yet to read a fic from that con that isn't rec-worthy. Srsly.

[livejournal.com profile] jengrrrl's Hope for the Hopeless, South of Nowhere, Spencer/Ashley, Mature is astonishing and right. Ashley's gone through rehab, but Spencer still doesn't trust her. This is very much Ashley's fic and the voice is spot on.

[livejournal.com profile] liz_estrada'z Never the Twain Shall Meet is a Buffyverse AU, Faith/Cordelia, Mature. No one gets Faith quite like [livejournal.com profile] liz_estrada. She's one of my fav Faith writers and this fic, even though it's Cordelia's POV, doesn't disappoint. Cordelia's father moves them to Boston where she meets bad girl Faith.

Rekindling by [livejournal.com profile] shelled_avenger is Harry Potter, Luna/Tonks, Mature and it's a lovely post-war story.

Love is a Painful Thing (The Second Best Mix)[livejournal.com profile] escritoireazul is a collection of 'second best' pairings from a variety of fandoms including Faith/Dawn (second best to Faith/Buffy), Blue Crush (Eden/Lena instead of Eden/Anne Marie) and a Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants/She's the Man crossover that hits my soccer kink. This is an extraordinary fic on so many levels. Great writing and characterization and really, the Faith/Dawn would have been more than enough for me, the rest were a wonderful bonus. Extraordinary fic.

Like I said, I'm still making my way through these and everything's rec'able, so enjoy!

edited to correct attribution on Rekindling. Thanks [livejournal.com profile] sporkmetender!

Yes, I've been falling down on the job, but so many others are doing so much:

over at [livejournal.com profile] passion_perfect, [livejournal.com profile] ralst just posted a bunch of South of Nowhere and SGA recs.

[livejournal.com profile] thelastgoodname shares her extensive list of The Devil Wears Prada recs. Or should I call it her 'Best of Telanu's fic' recs?

And [livejournal.com profile] femficrecs is back in action with even more SGA recs.

[livejournal.com profile] projectjulie responds to [livejournal.com profile] runetraverse's question, "Is it a law that you have to be a lesbian to write Femslash" with thoughtful comments and an impressive list of links to related threads from fandom past and present.

And as always there are the the gorgeous women of [livejournal.com profile] femslash_today who bring me all the goodies every. single. day. And probably making this post redundant. *g*
A bunch of random recs from a bunch of fandoms. Mostly fluff with a bit of angst and (of course) sex thrown in for good measure.

SGA recs:
different enough by [livejournal.com profile] quasiradiant is weir/keller, PG. This is lovely and hurt/comfort , which is one of my major kinks plus its quasiradiant so...srsly. Do I even have to review this? It's somewhat fluffy believe it or not. And beautiful. Go read. Lighten up your day.

With the Cost Not Counted by [livejournal.com profile] havocthecat is Weir/Heightmeyer, Mature. Another beautiful fic. This one moves from Earth back to Atlantis and deals with all of the emotional fallout that goes along with starting a relationship in a time of transition and turmoil. Great stuff!

Summer Storm by [livejournal.com profile] so_wicked is Sara/Sofia, PG-13. A short stream-of-consciousness from Sofia's POV during/after she is shot. Finally, rain . Also check out [livejournal.com profile] so_wicked's Perfume for more fluffy, Sassy goodness!

Murder in Suburbia
Murder in Suburbia by [livejournal.com profile] trancer21 (??!) is Ash/Scribbs, Pg-13 and it's totally and completely hilarious fluff...from trancer. Did hell freeze over while I wasn't looking? Not that trancer can't write anything she wants, but I'm used to scorching hot PWP. But I loved this!

Birthday Blues by [livejournal.com profile] kjaneway is ASh/Scribbs, PG-13. This is a wonderfully sweet and well-written piece that alternates between Ash and Sullivan(it works believe it or not!)'s POV to reveal the blossoming relationship between the two women. Beautifully done.

South of Nowhere (RPS)
Fait Accompli by [livejournal.com profile] jengrrrl is actually Gabrielle/Mandy, NC-17. This short fic manages to be all kinds of hot AND fluffy at the same time. I love the way Jengrrl writes. Great description and dialog, nothing overdone.

Next post will be an enormous Xena rec in honor of [livejournal.com profile] ralst's Xena Month!
Two more South of Nowhere ficlets from Harper who seems to be the queen of this pairing.

The Thing To Do and Second First are both Spencer/Ashley, PG-13 to R. Both are from Ashley's POV as she tries to deal with Spencer's revelation that she might be into girls. Not to mention that the girl wants a do-over on her first time and Ashley's just dying to help her out with that in a variety of ways.

There's also a TON of fantastic fic happening right now thanks to [livejournal.com profile] secret_slasha, [livejournal.com profile] femslash_minis's Anya challenge and a ton of other holiday thingies.

And thanks to my heroes over at [livejournal.com profile] femslash_today you can get a list of the femslash contributions to [livejournal.com profile] secret_slasha and skip all the non-girlie bits. BTW, so far they're all fantastic contributions. I don't want to rec until I can give the writer props so you'll just have to wait until all is revealed.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] ralst at P&P has updated AND has the results of her very holiday fic challenge. The holidays just keep giving and giving and giving...
Dear Very Special Episode of South of Nowhere,
Please hire a writer. I can suggest a few if you'd like. Real live lesbian writers who were once (or are currently) actual teenagers. Because copying and pasting your script from PFLAG pamphlets just isn't going to cut it.

Also, it's hard to see the gay through all of the hetero coupling and kissing. Maybe you could adjust the contrast? Thanks.

To celebrate my hopeless crush on the South of Nowhere trainwreck (bad acting, writing, and, hello? 30mins for 3-4 different storylines? WTF?) I pimp the first Ashley/Spencer fic (I've found):

Clueless by Harper, PG-13. It's a ficlet and it does a hell of a lot of work toward the nearly impossible task of making Spencer three-dimensional. That probably doesn't sound like much of a rec, but it is. Believe me. Spencer wasn’t nearly as clueless as she pretended to be.

Am I making this show and its characters sound less than cracktastic? Then I am clearly not doing my job correctly. This show is pure pr0n!! Also, my GF hates it!!!! She was screaming shit at the TV about their terrible acting and the terrible writing and...you know she'll be sitting next to me next week doing the same damn thing because...the pr0n! On crack! . Also, the Glennhate is so fucking real.

Also, also, spoilers! )
For those who can't get the SoN (canon teenage lesbians attack!) crack where they live, [livejournal.com profile] projectjulie delivers the yousendit goods:

Ep 1, Ep 2, Ep 3

Alas, my Mac hates Windows Media Player so I'll be waiting for the reruns of the first 2 eps. *le sigh*
