OT

So, the GF and I got halfway through My Summer of Love and turned it off. Not because it was bad (it's beautiful and haunting and really well-acted, written, and shot), but because all of the foreshadowing seemed to be leading up to some horribly tragic end and I'm just not in the mood right now. So if you've seen the film and know the ending, please spoil me!! so I can decide whether to watch the rest or not. Thanks.

hey! I saw your comments on [livejournal.com profile] zennie's LJ and checked out your LJ. thus the friendage circle is complete.

yeah, Show Me Love is one of those perfect sigh-worthy films. I'm a Show Me Love evangelist. our DVD gets a lot of action in many different DVD players :) I still like the original title Fucking Amal SOOO much better.

Oh, totally. Best. Title. Ever. Totally captures what it feels like to live in a shitty little town where you get your ass kicked for being anything outside of so-called "normal". Yeah, I think I was 21 or 22 when I first watched that film. It was just so perfect, the best look at adolescence I had seen pretty much ever, with or without the queer aspect. Of course I love it even more for the dykes, but you know what I'm saying. It wasn't overdoen at all, just... ahhh. I could go on for hours on why I love that movie. I think I have watched it about 20 times over the years.

Word to that! the funny thing is, my 'straight' friends (in NYC) were the ones who really went crazy over it. probably for the same reasons -- because it captures the shitty life of a non-'normal' kid in a small town so perfectly.

The 'party' scene is what always sticks in my mind. I've been to that same party (without subtitles!) so many times. although, usually I was in the bathroom holding back the hair of the girl throwing up. ahhhh, good times... :)
