Bring it On x/ Bend it Like Beckham

Okay, I've reached that point where I'm so behind in recs that I feel I can never catch up. No matter how many I post, I'm still leaving out tens if not hundreds. So I'm going to start small, with one fic from [livejournal.com profile] femslash06 and hope that starts the ball rolling. I'll also remind you that [livejournal.com profile] jennyo's got recs from this slashathon as well, so check hers out.

Today's the day we have everything by [livejournal.com profile] pene is Missy/Jess, NC-17. Perfect Missyvoice, perfect characterization all around and incredibly hot in the mix. This one stuck with me. I don't know if it's the soccer jock in me or the way these two awkwardly and effortlessly slide into...something real. It's so very college romance and so very very true. It may also be the fact that it's been a shit week and I needed something wonderfully light and beautifully written.

Well, she's British, right? I don't think British girls give out their numbers. It's that bizarre reserve thing they're supposed to have."

Torrance's theories on anyone who wasn't born in California are always dubious but Missy kind of agrees with the underlying sentiment. "Right, she could be shy."

Hahah. I wish there had been more Torrance. The story was pretty good, though I think maybe I would have enjoyed Missy/Jules better. They both could have had hot little attitude problems together.

The funny thing is, when I started reading this I thought Jess was the blonde (it's been a while since I watched either movie). So I had to start over. :)

Heh. It's funny you should say that, because I did the exact same thing (obviously completely blind to the Parminder icon right at the top). My mind was set on Jules/Missy, so I guess I kinda just filled it in.

heh. I wasn't given the option of Missy/Jules. I think it would've been easier to write in a way. I did feel I had to soften Missy a lot and wipe out some of Jess' insecurities for these girls to feel like they were in the same story. I explained it in my brain by deciding they're older and smarter than they were.
