The Girl from Yesterday, by Sharon Bowers is Abbie/Of, Mature. It's backstory fic for Abbie Carmichael and it's just fantastic. One of those stories I find myself thinking about months later. Set in Texas, college sophomore Abbie is home for break and trying to deal with her rape and her feelings for her brother's girlfriend. The impeccable characterization sparkles, but it's the details that make this story resonate: Abbie's big sports family. The heat. The storms. The small-town flavor of all Abbie's interactions. This story is not easy or light, but it does a wonderful job of filling out Abbie's character and explaining her often belligerent attitude. It's a really spectacular read.

Also, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] joran, [livejournal.com profile] femslash_today, [livejournal.com profile] thenewhope, [livejournal.com profile] girlwank, [livejournal.com profile] ralst, and [livejournal.com profile] projectjulie's BSG MasterList (look to the top of the page for the link), there's not as much reason for me to rec anymore. So things will slow down (not stop!) on my end and I'll try to concentrate on older or more obscure femslash. This is a good thing. A VERY good thing. If you haven't subscribed to these groups, I highly recommend it. There's no better way to keep up on femslash across fandoms.

edited to correct the femslash comm's tag. ack!
