Okay, so I've never seen an ep of All My Children. That's never stopped me from reccing fic before, so I gave dreiser's fic a chance and I'm so glad I did.

A Thousand Glimpses by dreiser is a WIP, All My Children, Bianca/Reese, eventually Mature. This fic is taking its own very sweet time with the romance of Bianca and Reese, making the most of vivid details and long, drawn-out moments of connection that just feel so right. If you're in the mood for a long, lovely romance, this is the fic for you. If you liked dreiser's HP fic, Crazy Little Things (Hermione/Luna, long past the age of consent), you'll definitely enjoy this. The two are similar in their wistful, dreamy romance.

Also, it seems that I rec'ed a flocked fic (theholyinnocent's Corona Kid), but she has since posted and edited version of Part 1 to passion_perfect: The Adventures of La Carmichaela and the Corona Kid (Director's Cut), Part I . I guess we'll all have to wait for Part 2? *le sigh*

My new obsession is updating my own alien_altars-inspired rec list...too frequently. I think this is proof that inspiration and often brilliance can come from a new approach to what should be a tired old cliché. Or it's proof that I'm insane. This is also, as usual, a cry for help. In the sense that I'm always looking for more cliché fic to add to my collection. Bring 'em if you've got 'em. Support my madness.

The Tavernkeeper's Sister and Well of Sighs both by Ella Quince. Both are NC-17, both classic and both stories use amnesia as a plot device to very different ends. I'm convinced Ella Quince (yeah, I finally get it -- Eloquence) is the pen name of a professional writer. Her prose is just that good. It's efficient and elegant with moments of absolutely breathtaking writing. But beyond that, the stories are wonderful and her classic Xena and Gabrielle are flawless.

and there's also the wonderful Purest Love by Seana James.

So, I asked for recs and I received. sravenk sent me to coolbyrne's site to read Out of Context, Olivia Benson/Nikki Wade, 18+. This was a real treat. It's so difficult to get crossovers right -- familiar characters in unfamiliar universes interacting with strangers -- but coolbyrne really gets it right. And more than that. This is a wonderfully paced full-fledged story that covers all its bases and manages flawless characterization (not to mention, dialogue!!!!). Olivia at sea and swimming in Larkhall works on so many levels as do the other familiar faces (the Julies, Denny, and Yvonne are all present). The dialog is right out of an ep of Bad Girls. Plus, coolbyrne Makes Them Make Out! and more.

Just checked ralst's P&P and Out of Context, Part 1 is up there too without the distracting formatting problems (? instead of ") of the first two parts on coolbyrne's site (this might just be an issue for Firefox users like me).

Hmmm, maybe I should start my own challenge, a Pimp Challenge. Pimp me your favorite stories and...well, I don't have any prizes, but, um, I'll squee over you?

Apparently Alex/Lorelai is the new crack.

if this should be, send me a little word by wizened_cynic is Alex/Lorelai, PG-13 and it's a wonderful antidote to Convictions even if it isn't Alex/Olivia. The writing is so strong and wizened_cynic is a master of show don't tell. Despite the light, airy tone of the fic, it covers some incredibly deep emotional ground.

Where in the hell did this Barek/Eames pairing come from?!?! It has just exploded all over my flist all of a sudden. And I'm grateful, very grateful. But confused. I don't watch L&O: CI, so I know absolutely nothing about this pairing in canon, except the part about hot chicks with guns and gold shields. And that's all I have to know really. Still. Is Barek a new addition. All I know about L&O: CI is that I hate I hate D'Onofrio's emo!genius character so I don't watch.

I'm lazy tonight, so I'll just quote what I wrote in quasi's comments, 'cause really, that's all I need to say: "There is something so 'exquisitely' (there's that word again) quiet and understated about your work. I feel like I"m holding my breath because any sound I make could drown out your words. It creates this incredible tension that runs under and around the actual narrative. In other words, you don't have to write and describe action-packed scenes in order to keep me on the edge of my seat. Just describing the itch of the medical tape and the multi-colored lotion bottles is enough. You turn the everyday into moments full of power and potential.

You look up, and her face is really close to yours, and when she looks at you, you both freeze there. She swallows, and you can hear it.

"I'm a little wounded, here," you whisper.

GAH! can you tell I have a HUGE litcrush on quasi? no. it's totally not obvious. really.

Another fantastic fic from that I JUST found the time to read:
Not So Soft by tremblingmoon is Alex/Olivia, R. I'm such a sucker for post-Loss fic and this one makes all of my Alex/Olivia dreams come true.Again, I'm being lazy tonight, so I'll just mirror what I said in comments to this fic, tremblingmoon does wonders with Alex's character, bringing her back from Witness Protection not completely intact and very much marked by the years she's been away. In fact that's one of the best things about this fic, the way the writer conveys the passage of time so effectively. It's such a tricky thing to do without resorting to obvious tricks, but tmoon does it with grace. Also, this line should tell you everything you need to know:
Helping her pack only a week ago, the young agents smiled at her kindly when they spoke, bright faces open and encouraging, like the words “friends” and “settle” and “life” were still part of her vocabulary. Like the syntax of affection, of safety, of comfort was something she hadn’t struggled for two years to forget.

Go. Give the Love to these great authors and the writers I haven't even gotten to yet. So much ficathon goodness, so little time. :)

Sickly so this is a quickie:

omiceti's glorious and haunting, One Hundred Things That Might Have Happened, Alex/Olivia, R, is up on LJ and recently updated. To recap, this is a series of mind-blowingly well-crafted drabbles (yes, I know, and I don't do drabbles:) set in a non-linear framework. Omiceti is a master of characterization and she captures moments that feel like fragments of memory. And, like memory, they vary from important moments to the trivial, giving them all an incredible resonance. Nothing here feels unimportant. Even the most trivial event feels like a potentially critical clue.

via suckeredin and lovetheshallow (I think) on the TWoP boards some incredible new SVU fic. All Alex/Olivia:

One Hundred Things that Might Have Happened by Mira. Alex/Olivia, Mira. A series of short drabbles that form a non-linear and completely arresting story. It isn't finished yet, but that shouldn't stop you. This is an exceptional piece of writing and it's like piecing together a beautifully sculpted puzzle. Plus, lines like this:

It feels nice, this heat between her legs. Innocent, like a crush. Almost like normal, almost like she can want someone without feeling like a perp.

Also by Mira, an incredible (and complete!) Loss fic, The Summary of Errors that will break your fucking heart.

Mira is the new black. :)

I'm sure this isn't news to the SVU fans but Mariska Hargitay Lesbian Rumors Return. Queer Day even names Mariska's alleged girlfriend (Kelly Miller) and says she played a rape victim in a recent ep.

Yes, it's crossover Wednesday here at [insert name of the week]. These two center on the SVUniverse:

I know I'm not supposed to rec WIPs, but I can't help myself. zennie's fic is just too addictive, plus, I'm hoping that more readers will bother her to update faster. Between Love and Hate is olivia/sara sidle (csi) Mature? Olivia's taken a leave of absence to work in Vegas (what?! it's no more ridiculous than most SVU plots) and meets up/clashes with a difficult coworker in CSI. Hotness ensues.

Untitled Jordan WIP from heathers, olivia/jordan, Very Mature. Jordan's in NYC trying to find herself and Olivia volunteers to help. The characterization in this is just pitch-perfect. Jordan is especially well drawn, right down to the signature gestures and speech patterns. This fic has really stuck with me. And, yes, heathers, we would like to see more of this although I think it stands on its own.

also, from heathers check out The Myth of Closure olivia/abbie, Very Mature. So it's only technically a crossover, but....More great characterization and a complex relationship between two incredibly hot and difficult women.
