yuletide

Apparently, there are many, many femslashy entries (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] femslash_today) in this year's yuletide, but I've only had time to read a few:
The Death of Myth-Making by [livejournal.com profile] jengrrrl is She-ra/Cat-ra, Mature. I read this because [livejournal.com profile] angharad_gov rec'ed it and was completely blown away. Not only is this not my fandom, but I've never seen the show. That made no difference to [livejournal.com profile] jengrrrl's complex, very adult world and fic. I was completely caught up in the political intrigue as well as the complicated emotional world jengrrrl builds so meticulously. Beautiful stuff!

Hostages of Mars by [livejournal.com profile] joandarck is another obscure fandom and its getting lots of praise from lots of smarter peeps than me. People who have actually read the source material. Although I found myself wishing that it would evolve into an AU rather than limiting itself to a behind-the-scenes that lead to a relatively unhappy/bittersweet ending for the protags, it was still a great read.

Seven Layer Confusion Cake by [livejournal.com profile] marenfic is She's the Man, Olivia/Viola, PG-13. This is wonderfully sweet and light.

Training Days by [livejournal.com profile] haku_kaen is Kill Bill Beatrix/O-Ren, Mature. Great story and I LOVE O-Ren. Was anyone else rooting for O-Ren at the end of Kill Bill?

and last but not least, Twelfth Night fic (the original Olivia/Viola) by [livejournal.com profile] voleuse, Summer Sang in Me.
