Another guilty pleasure...

I'm a fan of all of Janine's (aka fembuck)'s BOP fic, but these are my favorites:
Batter My Heart (over at Pink Rabbit Consortium's Subtext Zone), which takes us from Barbara's 'accident' and fostering of Helena to years later and romance. Barbara/Helena, R
and Poetry Feelings, which is incredibly sweet and funny and also R
but all of Janine's BOP is worth a long read. in fact, all of her fic is (D.E.B.S, Once and Again and I've already pimped her Popular fic). fembuck's fic always have fantastic characterization and she truly has a gift for dialogue and sweetness even with the bad girls. Which is a difficult thing to do.

Belonging by Pink Rabbit, Barbara/Helena, NC-17 is incredibly hot, romantic and simultaneously realistic about Barbara's disability.

and Little Bird in the Desert Kingdom by Rysler, aka joran . Black Canary/Lady Shiva, Oracle/Huntress Very Mature rating for teh hot GOGA(Girl On Girl Action). Set in the comicverse. Black Canary is sent on a solitary mission to protect a young king from an assassin who just happens to be...

Janine is great. I loved Poetry Feelings: "I don't do poetic imagery. Only apparently I do. With you." (And the pebble metaphor is almost as good as the cookie-dough metaphor.)

:D. I love the idea of badgirl Helena getting all mushy and I agree that the pebble metaphor/babble is one of the best (and funniest) in any fandom. I'm such a sucker for the bad girls. *sigh*

I'm also a huge fan of her fluffy Once and Again (is that really the name of the show? -- it's too early in the morning) fic. soooooooooooooo lovely and sweet.

Also, I noticed that she's got some D.E.B.S. fic on her LJ. have to check that out...

My only familiarity with Once and Again is through the fanfic (so I think that's the name of the show, but I couldn't tell you for sure), and Janine wrote the one with the Columbian drugs crying in the bathroom, right? (after Katie and Jessie have sex for the first time).

I still haven't seen D.E.B.S., but that hasn't stopped me from reading Janine's wip, and now I really have to go see it. When I first heard about the short film, I was hooked, and now that there's a feature length out there to be seen, I am obviously falling down on the popular culture intake sweepstakes.

I haven't seen the full-length D.E.B.S. yet either. I was disappointed they couldn't get the short's cast back (Glory! and Nicole from Popular!!), but I'm sure to break down very soon. My pop culture intake is at an all-time low right now too, which isn't always a bad thing. 9 times out of 10, I prefer fic to the source material anyway.

Well, you have to figure someone who has such a wonderful way with words and imagery should have it used as often as possible, right?

And yeah, it's too bad about the new cast, but I gather Tammy et al. were a little too old to be playing debs, or something (not straight enough? I have no idea). I read an article about that, but now I can't remember what it said, other than Tammy et al. were a little bummed, because they loved the script and the director and everything. Of course, I haven't seen the short, either, so I have no idea how they compare.

heh. I'll take all of the sexual favors I can get, although...I guess I should get in line behind the writer/director. :)
