fuck the flu. I have no brain, but other people still have thiers...

[livejournal.com profile] alg's Unsolicited submissions. That means "Submissions no one asked for that you're sending anyway.". She's a real live actual editor at Tor books and if you're just beginning the hell of submitting fiction (novels esp), this post has tons of links to resources that will help. And yes, they hold up for those of us who write non-genre fiction too. Also, you will waste many pages of paper and envelopes and lots of stamps submitting the wrong thing to the wrong literary zines and agents at first. just keep going. even if you screwed up and sent your first story in Arial 10 pt on pink paper, odds are, the slush reader who threw it directly in the trash the first time is gone now, so you can resubmit it four months later (following the guidelines) and no one will remember a thing.

edited to add I give up. obviously this post was meant for my other blog. sorry. no more posts til i'm back to full brain. promise.

Ick to the flu and hope you feel better soon. Don't feel bad about posting this here, I found it informative *and* funny. Now, all I need to do is type up an 80,000 plus manuscript!! Crap. There really is no magic formula other than writing is there?

if you're interested, [livejournal.com profile] alg has a follow up here about packaging your submission and it's even snarkier than the first if that's at all possible.

What other blog...are you cheating on us with another blog? ::sobbing::

I found this very informative too--so thanks for posting it! See, something good came out of your flu haze--but I hope you're feeling better soon.

Ditto. I don't know about your other blog, but I certainly find this information useful, so cross-posting is goooood!

But I do hope you feel better soon. Flu brain hurts.
