the horror, the horror...
Aug. 24th, 2005 06:54 pmreccing this is so wrong, I don't want to be right...
I know I'm going to catch holy hell for this, but this is some spectacular fic even if the pairing is beyond rare and possibly offensive to some.
Law & Order, SVU, Olivia/Maureen (or Molita as the originators jokingly refer to it). As in, Eliot's college-age daughter, Maureen. That Maureen. If that squicks, please don't read.
Although, Maureen is above the age of consent (attending Columbia) and the fics are from her
POV, so this isn't some creepy pedophiliac Olivia.
The Molita history according to
projectjulie: It started out as a private joke and ended up as some incredibly intense fic. Remember being a teenager and longing for an older woman? then you'll relate to these fics. Now, imagine that woman was the hotness and totally alcoholic/bipolar complexity of Olivia.
It started with some comments/jokes in an LJ thread, which lead to this brilliant piece of fic: Separation by
aeonian, PG.
Which lead to another short, History again by
aeonian, again PG and the joke was pretty much over because, well, there's nothing funny about beautifully written, dark and intense fic. This quote, in particular, really got me: Maureen knows she has an unfair advantage. She knows all the secrets her father knows, and then some: Olivia's mother was an alcoholic, her father was a rapist, and she will do anything to get in bed with a blue-eyed blonde again. GAH!
Then
theholyinnocent gets involved with the beautiful and tragic I can't believe I wrote the whole thing... R-ish and I'm now totally sold on this insanely wrong pairing.
It's amazing what a few unbelievably good writers can do for a pairing I would have 1) never thought of 2) never ever believed could work 3)never believed I would ever even read
and now I'm imagining Molita icons. ugh.
Tomorrow fluffy, non-SVU fic. promise.
Edited to add the gah! quote from History.
also edited to add mad props to
tremblingmoon for leading me down this twisted path!

Date: 2005-08-24 11:29 pm (UTC)I remember a story (undoubtedly Alex/Olivia) where Maureen had a very obvious crush on Olivia, and there are a few episodes where it seems like clear subtext on screen. But then, I see gay people.

Date: 2005-08-25 01:48 am (UTC)LMAO! exactly. I see gay people and slashpotential everywhere.
Those were... properly depressing.
Yeah. I felt the need to balance out some of the syrup (Spark) in the last SVU post with some angst. sometimes I'm in the mood for cheese, sometimes depressing angst is on order. I guess I should clarify a little more... that I have multiple fanfic personalities.

Date: 2005-08-25 02:40 pm (UTC)Ewwwwwww! Cragen/Branch, on the other hand is, like, totally teh hot. My new OTP. And I'm giving myself a migraine with the Cragen/Branch imagery.
Thank you for some incredible fic!! And now I get the pleasure of reading the rest of your fic. That's the great thing about being a fanfic reccer/pimp...my work is never done. :)

Date: 2005-08-28 01:06 am (UTC)Ever read any CSI fics?
no subject
Date: 2005-08-28 01:45 am (UTC)Uh...no, not really. Although I've recced one (Monique Bartok's, Crash & Yearn), but I only read it because I like the author.
I used to know one of the 'stars' of CSI and I have a very hard time seeing her face in fics. It's really disconcerting. Even squick-worthy. So, it's not really that I hate the CSI fics and more of a totally weird and personal quirk that keeps me from the fic. I know I'm probably missing out, but... *shrug* [/disclosure]

Date: 2005-08-28 05:37 am (UTC)of course, I'd rather be able to read the fic than know that fact, but I'm a total fic ho. or junkie. or something. :)
also, nothing to be jealous about. really.
