I know. What am I thinking? I don't rec video! But I didn't have time to read fic and I clicked to this via After Ellen and, well, it blew me away!
One Glance by Jetgirl7 is Imagine Me & You, Luce/Rachel, PG-13. JetGirl recuts the movie and ends up with something much more compelling and dramatic. I mean, I liked Imagine Me & You for what it was (light romantic comedy), but JetGirl turns it into something much more. And more importantly, she turns Luce into a major character rather than simply a catalyst for Rachel. I liked Heck, but he had much more of a part than Luce in the original and JetGirl corrects that mistake. This really is the best of fan work. JetGirl takes characters and situations we recognize and that already have resonance and resituates them to create something completely new and utterly original. Really great stuff! And only 3 minutes. Bonus!

Yeah, I saw it as both a strength and a weakness. A story like this is more compelling when both rivals are well matched in terms of character and charm, and Heck was so adorable, you could understand Rachel's conflict very, very well. But Luce just wasn't as well developed, sadly, and that kinda skewed the deck imo. (The only time I felt really moved during the movie was when Heck was crying in front of Rachel's little sister!) So the vid goes a long way in redressing the balance.
